PSN is proud to be a recovery-friendly workplace. We have a trauma-informed team who cares and our peer-run culture is often described as a family. Many of our staff are dual-certified Peer Recovery Specialists and Community Health Workers delivering effective and evidence-based peer recovery services and supports with lived recovery experience of overcoming mental health and/or opioid and other substance use challenges. We believe in providing ample opportunities for training to better meet the needs of those we serve. 

A Peer Recovery Specialist is an individual who has lived experience as a peer in recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges who after extensive training can support and assist others in achieving their own recovery and wellness. A Community Health Worker is an individual who serves as a community health educator, navigates healthcare services, and works to reduce health care disparities and promote health equity. We seek individuals who have direct lived experience and working toward or is a certified peer recovery specialist and community health worker with the RI Certification Board. 

We are currently looking to fill the following positions:

Parent Partner - Visitation Specialist: PSN seeks full-time peer with lived experience raising children and youth with serious emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges or work experience supporting children and youth whose parents have mental health or substance use challenges. This position will provide individualized face to face parent and family peer support, education, and visitation services. This includes transporting children and coaching supervised visits. Key skills includes knowledge of child welfare, mental health, substance use, special education, etc: strong verbal and written communication skills,;working in electronic health records; working on interdisciplinary and wraparound teams with state and local providers.

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and Community Health Worker:  Full-time or part-time certified peer recovery specialist and/or community health worker to work within our Peer Recovery Program which includes our recovery community centers in Middletown, Newport and Westerly and our statewide outreach team. This position will provide individual and group peer-based recovery support services to individuals who are working on recovery from mental health, substance use, or opioid addiction. Key skills includes knowledge working as knowledge of housing, vocational and employment, accessing treatment, pathways to recovery and wellness; collaborate with community partners; and educated on pubic health concerns.
